With decades of experience in recruitment, training, and people management across the UK fundraising sector, Evolve’s founders observed a gradual shift.

Incentives began to outweigh preparation. Volume began to overshadow trust. Recruitment focused on speed rather than alignment. High turnover became normalised. And charities were sometimes exposed to reputational risk in the very moments meant to advance their mission.

The challenges visible on the street were rarely born there.

They began upstream: in how people were recruited, trained, supported, and valued.

This realisation revealed something deeper: Face-to-face fundraising was never the problem. The system around it needed care.
